If we can't test it, we don't claim it.
Most dental devices are petroleum-based thermoplastic, and most makers have never published what they shed during wear. We consider that unacceptable. Our retainers are made from a bio-derived polymer; our aligners are the only ones in the UK made from a plant-based, BPA-free material — and both are held to the same standard below. For the full picture, read our guide to plastic-free dentistry.
The bio. Standard is our public testing protocol: every product independently tested by an ISO 17025-accredited lab, every result published by lot number and date.
What every product is tested for.
| Test | Method | Standard | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| Microplastic particle release | Simulated wear (saliva simulant, 37°C, 14 days) | ISO 10993-12 | Below detection limit |
| BPA, BPS, BPF leachate | LC-MS/MS analysis of eluate | EU Reg. (EC) No 10/2011 | Not detected |
| Phthalates | GC-MS extraction analysis | REACH Annex XVII | Not detected |
| Heavy metals | ICP-MS (oral simulant) | ISO 10993-13 | Below limits |
| Biocompatibility | Cytotoxicity assay | ISO 10993-5 | Biocompatible |
| Polymer composition | FTIR spectroscopy | In-house disclosure | Published |
Lab report PDFs are published here by lot number and test date. If we don't know something, we say so. If we can't support a claim, we don't make it.
Three things we'll never compromise on
If we can't test it, we don't claim it.
Every material claim is backed by independent lab testing, filed, and linked publicly. When we don't know something, we say so.
Supervision is not optional.
bio. is not teledentistry. Every case is managed by a registered UK clinician. Clean materials and proper supervision are the same product.
Adult tone, always.
No adjectives without evidence. No fear marketing. Our customer knows more than most marketers assume — we write for them, not at them.
Every claim, backed by published data.
Two products, one standard. The retainer you'd wear every night for years — and the only plant-based clear aligner in the UK.
